Areva-Siemens Calls for Finland's TVO's Full Commitment On Reactor Project

French nuclear engineering company Areva SA (AREVA.FR) along with its consortium partner Siemens AG (SIE.XE) of Germany called on its client Finnish electricity company Teollisuuden Voima Oyj, or TVO, to support efforts to respect the schedule for the Olkiluoto 3 nuclear reactor.

The statement issued by the consortium Monday attributed the delays in making the nuclear plant operational to its Finnish client TVO, in an ongoing dispute over the construction of a nuclear plant in the Nordic country.

"TVO has not been able to demonstrate so far a clear operational organization to support the main pre-requisites," for the phases from the end of the reactor's construction to the start up of the plant, said Areva Monday, in a statement.

"If there is any further delay then it will be TVO's responsibility, we will ask them to respect their part of contract," said a spokesman for Areva.
