Japan's current account clocked a surplus of 433.3 billion yen ($5.5 billion) in June, the Ministry of Finance reported Wednesday, bouncing back after the surplus shrank to a less-than-expected Û215.1 billion in May. The result -- which marked an almost 20% drop from the year-earlier surplus -- was roughly in line with economists' median expectation for a Û430.4 billion surplus, according to a Dow Jones Newswires poll. Late last month, the ministry reported a surprise trade surplus for June, as exports fell less than expected. The Japanese yen showed little reaction to the numbers, with the dollar inching up to Û78.65 from Û78.62 just ahead of the data. Futures for the Nikkei Stock Average held their gains of 1% in Singapore trading.
