Deutsche Post AG's (DPW.XE) Chief Executive Frank Appel says the company had "a very good first quarter, [and] that tended to continue into the second quarter," according to an interview in Saturday's edition of the Sueddeutsche Zeitung.

The company will release earnings for the second quarter on Aug. 2.

Appel also told the newspaper he can't imagine there will be a drastic slowdown in the global economy.
