Germany's Allianz SE (ALV.XE, ALIZF, AZSEY) wants to become the leading foreign insurance company in China, management board member Manuel Bauer said, according to a report published Saturday on Handelsblatt's website.

"We aim for the leading position among foreigners," the newspaper quotes him as saying. China is Asia's emerging market per se, he added. Allianz wants to sell life insurance policies in China via banks, the Internet, telephone and sales representatives, according to the daily.
