Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. saw its share price jump 6.9% to $11.08 a share in early trade Tuesday, landing the stock among the top percentage gainers on the S&P 500 . The Akron, Ohio-based company reported second-quarter results before the open claiming profit nearly doubled in the three months ended June 30 as compared with a year ago. Goodyear beat analyst expectations of 45 cents per share by earning 57 cents a share, excluding one-time costs, and has since revised its financial outlook for 2012. The stock is currently trading at $11.05 a share and is up 9.7% since January.
