Windows Phone 8 Will Not Work On Older Devices

Microsoft Corp. said Wednesday that its new Windows Phone 8 mobile operating system will not work on existing devices using the prior version of the platform. Mobile phone makers Nokia , Samsung and HTC have launched Windows Phones over the last 18 months, with the Nokia Lumia the most high-profile device running on the platform. Microsoft said Wednesday that all three manufacturers will build devices for the new Windows Phone 8 platform, along with Huawei. All devices for the new platform will run on SnapDragon chips from Qualcomm .
