Shares of Chinese computer maker Lenovo Group Ltd. defied a falling market to rise 1.2% in Thursday morning trade after a Kyodo News report that it will begin producing parts for its ThinkPad line at a Japanese plant run by NEC Corp. . The production, to be conducted under Lenovo and NEC's year-old joint venture, will begin this fall, the report said. Shares of NEC ended the Tokyo morning session flat. By comparison, Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index was down 0.5% and Tokyo's Nikkei Stock Average lost 0.1%.
